y name is Joseph Alcazar, and I am a designer from New Orleans. I studied fashion design at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design), graduating in June of 2021.
When I was 15, I decided that I wanted to design clothing. At 16, I attended RISD’s pre-college program—focusing on fashion design. After six weeks in an intensive pre-college program geared towards my field of interest, and participating in the annual “Paperama” fashion show, I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life—design clothes. Growing up, I had a keen interest in nature, history, culture, and language. As a result of this, I speak multiple languages (English, Spanish, and French) and have a sprawling knowledge of history and culture which has helped to influence all of my work, in one way or another. My love of nature has led me on many adventures, and has resulted in a deep love for designing outdoor apparel.
At the end of the day, I am a skilled technical designer with a background that has given me a unique perspective on the world around me, as well as how I draw inspiration from it. I work just as well individually as I would on a team, and I believe that I could help to bring out the best in any project that I am tasked with.
