Color Cards

This project was an exercise in taking everything from specific periods in time, using fine art, interior design, fashions, architecture, etc. in an effort to pinpoint the most popular colors from any given era. Represented here are the colors of the neoclassical era, the late 1890's, as well as the pop art movement of the 60's and 70's.

Focusing on the Neo-Classical era, the late 19th century, and the Pop Art movement of the 60’s and 70’s—these are color cards, which I made, so that I may have a reference point for various times in history that I might want to take inspiration from. This exercise led me to take into account fashion, architecture, interior design, and fine art in an effort to accurately identify the most popular colors of various periods in history. In the end, I am able to say that this was an incredibly successful exercise in research, widening the breadth of my understanding of the historical / cultural context of these periods.
