This project was an exercise Aimed at generating a collection that is specifically geared specifically towards a brand, which I happen to respect very much, —Patagonia. Looking into the story of the founder, the brand’s identity, as well as looking into the design process and what it takes for a piece to be approved for production under the brand (this is a fragment, reword it, make it a complete thought). I wanted to do something that Patagonia had not thought of yet, which proved to be difficult as this worldwide brand had (has) seemingly done everything. I even (omit “even” if you want “I was able to learn” might sound better) learned that Patagonia will take your used Patagonia clothing, and repurpose it by using fabric and other materials from the pieces to generate new, nearly 0 waste garments. The line is called “Re - crafted,” and I absolutely loved the idea—but this was no help to me as I needed to create something that would be new for the brand.
Then I had an idea: “What if I designed an outfit that could be worn year-round, regardless of the season?” Thus, the title “All-Year” came to be. This collection consists of garments / outfits inspired directly from the Patagonia archives, as so often is the case within the company. The collection features details such as removable linings, hoods, sleeves, and pant legs by means of snap and zipper fasteners. This collection, as was my intention, screams Patagonia.
